It’s Sunday and I still haven’t been able to get ahold of Sydney. I feel like a kid in high school after a breakup. I’ve called her. I’ve texted her. I’ve driven by her house at least four times. And still, nothing. She’s supposed to be at work tomorrow. I’m half tempted to call one of her friends whose kids are my patients, but I haven’t stooped to that level yet.

My phone buzzes with a text from Amy.

Amy: I’m almost at the train station.

Me: I’ll leave now. See you in twenty.
